These types of videos are so rich but the acting out ones seems like so dysfunctional. id rather see a skit that showed the right way rather than frustrating misunderstandngs and lack of preparing for situations like show what ot should look like we all know dysfunction already. like what would a person that knows nothing about autism or thinks its retardation go about getting understanding and asking their partner right questions.? asking as an autistic with someone who really doesnt know. and i got tired of trying to explain.
The healthiest NDs I’ve seen in relationships are NDs who have supportive partners (regardless of gender or whether the other partner is Nt or ND).
This is true for all couples, but when you factor in NDs having difficulty with social navigation or physical symptoms like sensory overload, the other partner is willing to do a little extra to create stability and help them navigate. The other partner also approaches neurodivergence with a curiosity, not infantilization or an imposition.
There are a habdful of Youtube couples who document their lives together in this way and they basically give the world a glimpse of what functional relationships could look like for NDs. And the great part is, we finally get to see “average everyday NDs”– not the ones who are super wealthy via inheritance or finding a career niche in demand, or super attractive– thrive.
There are few models of that in real life, but plenty of NT ones, because for NTs it just happens naturally.
